After dinner this afternoon, my uncle Jake, ronda and I all decided to try out the cottonwood. We started out all chucking #3 blue fox lures. At 500 west, notta. I finally switched to a brown trout pattern and had a bite. We moved up stream, and fished by the old oceans restarunt. Jake finally caught a little brown, about 7 inches. Ronda hooked up with something big up by the bridge. It turned out to be a nice 16" brown. After that, we moved to a nice little secret spot of mine. I finally caught 3, all in 4 casts. Ronda caught another 2, jake 4. We moved once more, and I managed 1 tiny brown. Most of the fish they caught were on #3 blue fox's in a silver or copper color. I caught mine on a #3 in brown trout. The river was up and perfect lure color. It was the best I've seen it in many moons.

Drove up Big Cottonwood Canyon last night... couldn't see too much and I've never fished up there. Is there good fishing in the canyons or would it just be a waste of time and maybe lures??

I have a feeling your secret spot is close to my honey hole HA,HA. Fished BCC in the canyon on Sun afternoon, got 2 to the net, my partner got 4 when I left, lost at least 3-5,all browns, had a brook or a cut on but he got off right before the net.Not any with any size. Not like the biggens in the honey hole. ? Ever caught anything else in Cotton creek, besides trout an carp down low?

Not so RR77, I've had a ball fishing up the canyon, with both lures and a flyrod. Just look for beaver ponds just past the switchbacks and patience will reward you.

Some really good sized rainbows, one big brookie and a large mouth bass. I'm thinkin anywhere in those stretches I fished may be your honey hole. I gotta say you have good taste!

My other uncle fishes up there alot. He nails em. And lots of em. He uses pretty much all panther martins and blue fox's.

Thanks a bunch fellows..... I need to run up there during the daytime. Went up just on a fun drive with the girlfriend aka scouting trip.....[

] and it got too dark to really scout the water. It looked good though and I've heard some good things. I'm looking forward to heading up. Sounds like a fun trip from listening to you folks. I'll post a report and let you all know how I do. I may hit the upper end of Hobble Creek and maybe Diamond fork too so there will be a post about that. Again, thank you for the heads up on the canyon.

I JUST HAD A FLEECE PULLOVER ON AND A T SHIRT...GOT ANGRY AT THE BOTTOM, IT WAS ALL SUNNY AND WARM. ARGGH...SAW A TON OF TROUT IN THE POOLS, BROOKIES IN TEH HALF TO ONE POUND RANGE...DIDNT CATCH ANY I THINK THE WEATHER MOVING IN SHUT EM DOWN.
