I fished Pineview today. I launched the pontoon near the swim beach, and kicked around for several hours. I tried small jigs, a couple of flies, even worms, but I couldn't get anything to bite. Saw lots of carp in the shallows. I talked to a couple of guys who saw a big muskie, but I didn't see any myself. Only a few other people out today, which was nice.
Even though I didn't catch anything, it was still muuuuuuuuuch better than being at work.
Sorry I don't have better news.

Have you or anyone tried for smallies at Pineview yet? Wonderingwhen they turn on again.

I threw some jigs and spinners and a couple of crankbaits. I wasn't specifically targeting smallies, but I wouldn't have been upset if I'd caught one. I've never caught a smallie at Pineview, so I'm not exactly the most knowledgeable person to ask. I have caught largemouth there, but they were mostly on the small side, and it wasn't recent.

I'm not sure where the swim beach is, my guess towards the East shore. I've been told thats the place for largemouth and crappie. If you go out again to Pineview, next time try floating the narrows near the dam on the west side. staying close to the shoreline. Drop shotting a small worm or a reaper might be a good tactic as you leisurly drift along or casting various baits at the shoreline but beware the rocks there are lkure hungry. The smallies seem to be concentrated in there when they are on.
Just don't forget to let us know if you get any[
] I hate to do the exploratory stuff myself cause I live so far away from Pineview.[

The swim beach is on the east side. Just north of the middle arm of the lake. I was going for ease of launch, since there wasn't a long walk like there would have been if I'd gone to the north arm like I'd wanted to. It was just too tempting. I've never really fished near the damn, since the bank's so steep. I'm pretty lazy I guess, but I did resist taking the electric motor, opting instead to row and kick my way around. Good workout.
I like Pineview since it's fairly close to me. I've been fishing it since I was a kid, so I'm fairly familiar with it, and I can usually catch something there. It's also kind of a pretty lake. Nice scenery. I don't like it much during the summer when they pack the boats on there. Scary stuff.

Understandable
, well didn't mean right near the dam I think thats still bouyed off. On the north shoreline of the narrows theres a pullofff across from a house. It's an easy walk down to the small beach that is there. Thats the place to launch from and fish your way west towards the dam. If the smallies are on thats where you will get them.
If you live close by definately get down there and try! I am doubtfull that they are very active yet but you never know.
Good Luck.
