Just thought I'd post a few pictures of a trip I took two summers ago to Alaska with my oldest son Spencer and my Dad. Did the whole trip without a guide and came home with about 90lbs of salmon. Caught red, silver, chum and pink.

Enjoy![Wink]

I noticed your son's zipper was down. Was he "fly" fishing? or using worms?

Just kidding, great pictures. I've been to Alaska several times. I look forward to taking my 9yr old next year.

Small one with the hump is a pink (humpy). All of these fish were taken north-west of Anchorage just off the main road. I couldn't get any further back country due to my dad having MS and can't walk well. We were fortunate to find some great fishing easily accessable. Fun times were had by all, even the little "fly" fisher.

Next year is my 8 yr olds turn, kind-of a new tradition... dad has to take the kid turning 8 to Alaska for a fishing trip, poor dad.[Wink][Tongue][sly]

main rivers fished were the Willow and Little Willow, fished a little off the Susitna and a few un-known tributaries.

During the fishing months the Anchorage Daily News posts fishing reports that we based our fishing locations on. This is a great resource: [url "http://www.adn.com"]www.adn.com[/url]

I am hoping my plans to go back up to Alaska this July go through!!! I want to hit some salmon!!! Plus get my first experience of pulling barn doors off the ocean floor!!! [cool]

Hope you make it polokid! I hope to go after some of those doors myself next time. Look for some of the charters that go over night. The daily limit is 2 but the overnighters you come back with four... two for each day.

H2O polo rules!!!

I liked both Wasilla and Palmer....nice towns. Did you happen to run up and look at the matanuska glacier? pretty impressive! As is most of the state of Alaska! Soldotna, Ninilchick, and Homer all provide excellent charters for halibut....prices are considerably cheaper if you hit it at the end of the season (september). Don't overlook Valdez. If you have time, the drive is worth it....best part of the state if you ask me...at least that part of the state that you can drive to!
