I got a deal in the mail asking me to join the North American Fishing Club. I was just wonderin if any of you were members. Is it worth the money?

I'd just start with YOUR needs... are you looking for a local club for outings, trips, etc.? (They may have local chapters in your area, I'd ask). Or would this be mostly for information only. Don't know about them but try a web search on the club and see what you get for your money and how it would assist your fishing needs....
Best,
Glenn

I am a member and enjoy the information that I get from them. If you were to join only for the chance at winning a prize in one of their drawings, then that wouldn't be worth it. Like it was stated, look out for your own best interest. Being a member doesn't make you a better fisherman. It only makes you a member.

I am a Life Member of the NAFC. I love their Buletin Board.. and it was worth it for me to join for the price and the magazine. I was a member for 2 years before becoming a life member. They let me count my first 2 yrs. payments towards my life membership fee.
As far as free stuff goes... NAH.. not everyone gets to test a product, but I do get some free samples every now and then... hooks, fishing line.... stuff like that.
They also arrange meets on the bulleting board. This summer there is one at Lake George, NY in May. One in Gwinn, Michigan, and two more have recently developed too (Massachusettes and somewhere out west). The CLUB does not arrange these meeting.. club members do.

The same question came up a few months ago. Do a search for NAFC or North American Fishing Club. There was at least ten posts on it.
I'm a member and plan on becoming a Life Member next year. They've sent me plenty of fishing stuff and I just received my first product to test and report on. So far I'm thinking that it's been worthwhile. A lot of the "information" posts here actually come from NAFC newsletters.

My experiance with NAFC wasnt a good one. I wouldnt recomended them to anyone. They make it seem like you will get to test ALOT of lures...in reality you will mostly end up with testing fish seasoning[pirate]. The magazine was ok. The message board isnt very good. BFT's is much better[cool]!
It's not worth the money. You can find much better clubs elsewhere.

I joined it to get the magazine and I'll see what happens with being a member this year. I did get some free line but that came in a book they want you to buy. Don'nt join it if you want alot of free stuff. Thats not going to happen. The magazine is good reading though.

I've been a lifemember since about 1990. I have been enjoying the magazine, and every so often I get to field test something. As far as it being worth it, well, alot of things I do in life aren't always up to my fullest expectations. I would say that overall, it's been worth it.

[size 2]The NAFC message boards have changed as of a month or so ago... we now have a chatroom that is always open and private messaging. It's cool. Not always someone IN the chatroom.... but it gets used quite a bit![/size]

What's your NAFC identification? I'm not sure what mine is but I've gotta check out the new live chat. I must admit that their website has improved quite a bit over the past couple of months.
The NAFC is great for beginners who are just hungry for basic knowledge about fishing. I've received one item to test but I'm not that impressed with it. I've also received free snap-swivels, bobbers, fishing line, bait-keeper hooks, and a fillet knive from them.
One of these days I'll get back to sending back the books they want me to pay for. Hehe.

DDRat...I am "I should be fishin' " on the NAFC boards
I have the filet knife too and used it the first time this weekend! It was the first time I ever cleaned a fish too... it was a nice brown trout! pictures coming soon.

I am in the same boat with you on this one.
I have yet to test a product from them. I do like the magazine and their web site.
they have another down side to them as well and that is thier billing department. they havent a clue as to what they are doing down there. I had to pay twice for a vidio tape. now I have two cancled checks for the same item. they keep sending renewal invoices every month. gets to be a bit agrivating.[unsure]

Since I have no use for a fillet knife I gave it to my friend Darrell. He'll make good use out of it. He liked the initial feel of it.

i've been a life member for a few years i'm not really to impressed yet the magazine gives me something to read as for the billing you hit it right on the head. someone needs to take an accounting or busines class.
