I fished Smith & Morehouse today from 7:30am - 1pm. What a great day to be alive and be able to fish. I started from the boat ramp in my Kayak and headed towards the dam. I missed 3 hits by the time got to the dam. I was trolling a crawfish shad rap. The Dam was red hot today. I trolled up to the inlet and then swiched to a silver Mepps. I caught only one with the Mepps. I swithed back to the Shadrap caught some more on the way back to the Dam. At about 10am the wind started to really blow but the fishing was still good. I fished the dam again and caught another 6 fish there. I headed back down towards the inlet on the east side and stoped for lunch near the beaver lodges. I caught 3 more while I was trying to eat my lunch. I caught these on night crawlers casted out from shore with no weight. from there I worked the east side and the dam again then back to the ramp.

I had the water almost all to myself. There was only one other guy in a toon on the water. He told me that he had caught 2 small Rainbows and lost a bigger one. There were people fishing from shore.

On the way back to the paved road I stopped and fished the stream for 10 minutes. I caught a beautful 14" Cutt. I caught it on a night crawler.

I ended up with 25 planter Rainbows (10" - 12" from the lake and 1 Cutt from the stream.

What a great day to fish. There was no clouds. It was so quiet that you could hear the woodpeckers.

Thanks for the update. Were you just paddling the yak? Or do you have an electric rigged up? Good luck on your next trip.

I was just paddling. I don't know how fast I was going because I don't have a finder yet. I was only trolling about 12 to 20 feet off shore all day.

Excellent report Tin-yakker, thank you for sharing. We need to get you a digital camera with all the yak fishing you do. Did you get that rod holder mounted yet?. Electric motor on a yak?. Blasphemy I say. We still on weekend after next?. I'm chasing greenies at the honey hole in the powerboat this weekend. K2 wants to do some run and gun fishing. To be honest, I'm almost ready to sell 'Ducky'. I love the yaks too much. It's a disease (D'oH). Exactly 30 days until I start a solid three weeks in the salt chasing thresher sharks, yellowtail, white seabass, halibut, calicos, sandies, cudas, bonito, rockfish and on and on and................ I almost can't stand it. Trying to figure out how to tie on 100 pound leaders to my 30 pound Ande. My buddy in San Diego landed 5 white seabass over 30 pounds in one yak trip this week. They're starting to spawn. Don't worry, I'll bring back tons of digital pics for you to drool over. Have to go work on the live bait tank now. Take care.

Hey Kayote,

Yes the plans are set for next weekend. I'm so Jealous if you are going the Honey hole. It will be a Sad day if you get rid of `ducky`, but then you get the prowler and give me your yak for Mrs Tincan or Tincan 2[Smile]. You better bring back lots of picture because Tincan2 like's them as much as I do.
