I am a new angler, but I take the sport seriously. I study and practice as much as my wife will let me. I am going to Willard Bay this weekend and I have never fished there before. What lures can I use to give me the best chance for success? Looking to catch Crappie, Walleye, and maybe Wipers.

Thanks for all your help.

You going to be from shore or from a boat???

For crappie, any panfish jigs should work tipped with a piece of worm. I like to use those florescent bobbers and have about 3 feet of leader.

Throwing white and chartruese curly tail jigs tipped with a crawler can produce some walleyes.

anything that can replicate a shad will pick up wipers or walleyes. if from a boat rapala shad raps, producer prism shads or any shad replication can work.

If you have time it is a good idea to head to Kaysville and visit Hooked fishing tackle. James and his staff will give you great advice and suggestions on what to use on the wipers and walleye at willard. You can also visit them at their website www.hookedfishingtackle.net, they are still building the site, but a great place to go when getting started at willard.

I will probably take my boat tomorrow, but I was wondering if it would be better to stay closer to shore for crappie and walleye. I know that Willard is not very deep so I haven't decided where to go on the Bay. Thanks for all of your help.

I am not a expert walleye fisherman by anymeans, but you should still be able to pick up walleyes along the dike edges in the rocks by throwing jigs. . A good and popular place to pick up crappie is in the marinas, expecially the North Marina. By throwing small chartruese jigs tipped with crawler. Once again by stopping at Hooked on your way you can get a great idea of plastics and other baits for wipers.

[unimpressed] I went up last week and we hooked up with 2 decent wipers. We caught them trolling in 10 feet of water, using a rapala shad rap and a nother lure that had a goldish color. Thier were alot of walleye toward the west dike, never hooked up but was seeing them on the fish "lier". Hope that helps and you have a good day fishing . Onemorecast
