Looking for a pelican report, thinking about taking the kids up next week for some fast action.

Can a launch a I/O and cruise about or is it to shallow?

I was at Pelican Friday night and Saturday. Make sure to bring the bug spray, they are out in force. I talked to one guy putting his boat on the trailer. He had his grandson with him and the kid was so bothered by the bugs they didn't fish very long.

Lots of boats on the water Saturday, not much of a breeze, water was warm to the touch (no thermometer), I caught maybe 15 LMB but all were very small.

The launch ramp is in good shape. Saw some big bass boats being launched, also a big pontoon boat. No one was having any problems.

Good luck.

Some friends of mine were up there last week and said some kind of bass club was there. There were alot of boats on the water. They said they didn't see alot of bass being caught but alot of people were taking the blue gil by the buckets full out.I wonder if people realize there is a limit to them up there. They said the water was real murky. Not very clear like this time last year. They only got one bass.It was caught on a buzz bait.

Nice to hear about the sucess of both parties. This will be the first time I come with a real boat and we plan the fish the elusive North side. So with map in hand and the depth sounder on I will fish.

The last time we brought all the kids we had my buddies river drift boat and I had my 12' john with elec motor along with a pelican and a tube. We did really well but my buddy hung in to long and the wind got him. BIG pain in the ... We coucht a ton of fish I would say buckets full. There were 4 kids and 3 adults. Thats 50 of those huge gills. Thankfully we only kept about 20 and released the rest. I'm pretty fast with a fillet knife but 20 or so fish in a row is enough.

The new boat should solve the problem.

Hey Troll,

The gills are in the shallows and hitting as good as they can as of sunday. The cold front wednesday will probably put them down, but they should be on again by saturday. This is the best time of year to fish them.

Good Fishing, Kayote
