I spent some time under the 'new' Jordan River bridge at 9800 S Friday from 7 pm to 9 pm and Satuday morning 7-9 am hoping to catch some channels but no luck. About 9 am I was reeling in to go home and I thought I had caught up on something. I had not felt a hit. Then the fight began.. The first fish of the year. About a minute into it I saw it come to the surface, the reddish tail came up out of the water and it was then I got disappointed... a stinkin' carp [Sad] Still though, I kept fighting him directing him away from the submerged tree. Finally after about 5 minutes I was able to get him in... He was 24" (measured) I have no guess on the weight. Anyway I would have cut him up for good channel bait but our freezer in the apartment we're staying at until our house is done is full... no room for even a cut up big fish like that. Still though it was good to catch a decent fighting fish even of it was just a carp.

Will anyone admit to eating a carp? I have to admit I thought about chunking up half of it and eating the other half.... Carp Tacos anyone??

There are some good carp recipes on the recipe board. Give them a try some time. Just remember, the cleaner the water in which the carp comes out of, the better the taste it has without going into the extra preparation measures.

I love to fish for carp. I don't eat fish so I couldn't say if they are good or not. The biggest carp I have gotten was 31 inches and the fun part is I use 6lb test.So it is a challenge to land them.

I know a lot of people that say carp are the best fish they've ever had, only they have to come from a clean source of water like the ones from Bear Lake. I have yet to try them, gotta be decent though. Anyone else had this so called "delicacy"?

I love hooking into big carp. It always gets the blood pumping. Then you see the head, or the tail. It can't always be a monster channel though. We can keep wishing though right. I fish the jordan quite a bit lately, but have never been to this 9800 So bridge. How do you get there? I've been fishing 106th but have only caught carp and suckers and small muds. I start a set of night shifts this weekend and need some new places on the jordan to try out on my way home in the mornings. Might not be that great with the change in weather but oh well at least I'll be fishing. Thanks
