I had an opportunity to fish with Utwalleye yesterday at Deer Creek. The wind was pretty bad at times, but we had a great time. We fished for the walleye most of the morning with no success. We couldn't buy a bite! However, I learned a lot about fishing for walleye at Deer Creek from an individual who knows more about that water then anyone I know. It was a great experience with really great company! Later in the day we fished for the trout using Rapalas. We had great success--couldn't keep the fish off our lines!

Green Tracker? Nah not Utwalleye's, his is a baby-blue colored older boat. Can't remember the name of it, but he has a BFT sticker on the window of his boat though. If you see him fishing with the boat movin' but he's not drivin' it, chances are it's remote controlled. Yes he does know his walleye thang. Knows Deer Creek like the back of his hand.

Hey chuck, do you buy the fishing times thing that you see on calendars, dark black fish icon means excellent fishing at night, while solid gray fish icon means excellent fishing, while blank/white fish icon means poor fishin. Think whoever wrote up the idea for calendars know what they are talking about? Gotta throw in the weather considerations such as cold fronts etc...

I saw you guys in the john boat. I was in a black and grey Lund, working a bottom bouncer near the point to Rainbow Bay when you were going up lake twards Charlston just after noon. It was a heck of a slow day, I didn't try for trout though, just walleyes and a few minutes with a jerk bait for smallmouth. Nails

Hey Paul, I don't know if all that calendar stuff ir right, I kinda have my own thoughs. I try not to fish days on the full moons, 3 days before and 3 days after. I like to fish the full moons at night in june and july and if I get a chance to fish others. If you were to keep your own records and compare them with the calendar times I'm sure some days amd times would be close and some would be off. And then you have cold fronts, there always something special to deal with. later chuck

Ok, I seen you guys, yes it was a slow day, I had one take on a lindy rig just after we started in 10 feet of water out on the flats. I thought it was going to be a good day with that start, but nothing. I missed that hit. it kinda felt like a perch bite. but nothing after that. we trolled deep divers for a while with no action, so with trolled cd-5 rapalas and chased after some slimmers. later chuck

We were up there on Sunday trying for the eyes and couldn't hook any thing. Tried the side planners and the bottom bouncers but couldn't buy a bite. This was in the 10' to 18' depth, so I went out to the 22' to 32' depth and this was where fish finder was seeing most of the action. But again didn't like what we had to offer.

We did talk to a guy that said this coming up Saturday there was a walleye tournament scheduled for Deer Creek.

I'm starting to thing the pre-dawn, afternoon, and/or evening fishing might be the trick. Water conditions should be putting fish in the boat but I guess that is why they call it fishing instead of catching...

Good Luck to the fellow eye fisherman...
