A friend and I drove up there yesterday. The ice is off about half the lake. Don't know much about fishing Tony Grove, but just thought I'd let everyone know. I didn't drown any worms - when it started to snow I put my tail between my legs and headed for lower ground.

thanks I was wanting to know about that! [

Loren- Thanks for the report. I debated whether to drive up there last saturday or not and decided to go to Mantua instead. We couldn't get anything going from the west dike at Mantua, and so we went down to the Bear River below Corinne and caught carp and catfish for awhile. I will put Tony's Grove on my list of fishing holes to hit now it is open. Acey

Loren, thanks for the report. How was the road? Any snow still on it? Most years Tony Grove Lake will winter kill so it is a rare year if there are any fish left alive after ice off. White Pine does not winter kill but it will probably be another couple of weeks before you can get there.

KJFN, It's kind of funny that you mention white pine. That was our original destination but I didn't want to hike in the rain. Thanks for the heads up on winter-kill at Tony Grove.
The road up to Tony Grove was completely clear, and I doubt that any of the new snow stuck.

How much snow is left on the ground? If you can hit it just right, about a two week window, the abundance of wild flowers makes hiking around there wonderful.

There was "patchy" snow - just in the shady spots. Your 2 week window should be real soon (unless it's right now).

[red]I've been looking for someone that likes to mountain bike and fish. I'm no expert at either but sure enjoy both. Anyone up to biking White Pine and Tony Grove this spring? It's a blast. [/red]
