REPORTS: These flow charts ARE up to date today (the USGS site is current once again) and tell the story. Streamers from a boat will be your best option on the lower end in the considerably faster and high water although we are hearing reports of people doing well on salmonfly dries down here the past few days. Look for decent dryfly action coming in from the top end near Gilles Bridge. In the cloudy, cooler weather, your liable to be fishing mayflies or caddis rather than bigger stoneflies. Bring everything, though, the conditions are changing by the hour. The upper river is the place to be for more reasonable wading conditions.
HATCHES: Midges, skwalas, March Browns, caddis, salmonflies, PMDs, baetis.
FLIES: Bigger attractor or stonefly dries with nymph droppers. More realistically sized mayfly offerings such as parachute Adams, comparaduns or cripples in the 14 to 16 range. Slow moving streamers will also be a good option. Larger stonefly nymphs with bright red San Juan worm droppers.
