[cool]Um, don't know. What species did you catch? I've been told catfish don't have scales, it that's what he caught.

Catfish do not have scales. Both Bullhead and Channel catfish live in the Jordan River, and neither have any scales at all. You can tell the difference because Channels have a deeply forked tail and when they're small they usually have a few dark freckles.
Bullheads have a squarelike tail with practically no fork in them at all.
All other species in the Jordan have scales including suckers I believe.

First, I assume that you caught a carp? It sounds like you caught what my dad calls a "chinese" carp,or I have heard them also called "mirror" or "glass" carp (not GRASS). These are garden variety carp with a genetic trait where they have few or no scales. They are otherwise totally normal. Back in the day, about 1 in 10 carp I used to catch in the Jordan were like this. They are common everywhere their scaly yellow comrades are found. Either that or you caught a fish that ingested too many tailings from the Sharon steel plant dump[shocked].

They were both carp. And the sick looking one I caught sounds like the kind dog was talking about. I don't care if its normal or not. That was one very ugly fish. Even for a carp.
