If u are a catfisher-man, you know as well as i do, how good blood bate works.

You probly seen hunders of brands types an ect. truth be told all most all of them

get fish. on the back of the doe bate it says to roll in a ball an bate on a trebla

hook. i think this is not a good idea, it does not hold as power bate for trout.

next time get a spunge, cut it in half inch squars. Get the spunge an run it thew

a nummber 2 or 3 hook, make sure your spunge is all the way up near the eye.

its best to have it lached to the eye, that way you don't loos any fish when trying

to set the hook. Once the spunge is on the hook dip in an sink it in the blood bate,

make sure you use vetable oil, to make it in a slushy past, take out spunge an

cast out. Doing this will enable u to leve in the water for long pierods of time,

up to an hour i would say. I have never met a catfisherman that knew this one

so next time u out there keep the spunges in the tackel box.

Got manny manny other tips for trout an walleye, give me a halla on my E-mail

I to have used a similar method, I use marshmellows shmeared with blood bait.

It works like a charm... the best part about the method I use is that the bait stealers dont seem to want to mess the bloody mellows... and I dont have to worry about processing the sponge after I am done fishing, (man am I getting Lazzy)[angelic]

Thanks! I think I've seen those before. Now all I'm gonna hafta do is put a spinner blade just above the hook to make it legal here in Minnesota. And then I gotta whip me up some of that blood paste.
[signature]
Wow!! That spinner blade sounds kind of serious. Don't they allow a standard babysit bait out there? Do you have mostly clear water or is it murky?

If it is clear then I would go with some type of bait bug. They will accomodate any type of stinky, smelly bait that you are using plus it has a spinner blade one for added attraction.

Sorry, I need to do more research but here in MN it's illegal to use a treble hook by itself. It must be part of some sort of lure system. Not sure if the sponge on the end would count as the lure system or not.
[signature]
I can understand where you are coming from on that. Perhaps you could convince them on the word "lure" as the dictionary states, as an artificial attraction.

I'm sure it will all work out. Otherwise try this link. [url "http://www.docscatfish.com/products.html"]Catfish rigs[/url]

That should give you some info.

Just guessing but probably the reason you're not supposed to use a treble hook by itself is that people use them to try to snag fish by jerking treble hooks through schools of fish, such as salmon. That's illegal in California as well and should be illegal everywhere. I'd bet that with the sponge on it, it would be a legal bait, not just a bare treble hook for snagging fish.
you can all so use biger lager single hooks. an no it would not make as a lure system

Yes you are right, i have used that way, befor i lurned the magic of a spunge, bout 8 years ago, this is very efecice, but your way, u have to ensure that the bate is still on there. i have left my rod in for hours when around the camp fire, an still got a fish more than 3 hours later.
[signature]
you've got that right. if a marsh mellow last half hour fortyfive minutes your are doing unbelievably well... them mellows melt fast and faster if the water is worm... when that water hits 80 degrees you'd be lucky to have a mellow last 15 minutes
[signature]
they sell these here in MN so I think they'd be legal. I guess there's one way to find out. Hehe.

I have yet to have a CO walk up to me and check my gear. Only once have I been asked to see my fishing license and on a different occasion I was asked what I had caught and if I had kept anything. Silly question considering my friend and I were loading everything into his van and not one container could even hold fish.
[signature]
Yup, i live down here in new mexico, an its hott!!!!!!!!! wont last 5 mins in the water down here
[signature]
sounds like 85 degree water... my mellows melt almost instantly in my 100 degree coco[Smile]

Hay dave i got a ?, you know anything about useing WD40 in power bate for trout?
[signature]
I tend to stay away from it all together... I dont like oil on my dinner plate so I wont feed it to the fish...

the best info I could give you on it is hear say....

I have used a number of naturaly made attractants that for the most part left me with the fealing that they worked well...
