Not being a huge Nelle fisherman, infact I've only fished it a couple of times, and now with the water down I've noticed there is a lot of dead brush to deal with along the shoreline. How brushy is the bottom in the Rock Creek area?

Thanks

Most of the Rock Cliff area has submerged trees and brush in it. Be prepared to lose a few jigs to snags on old tree branches. If you stay above the old road obviously you won't snag any trees but it's probably not as good fishing doing that.

[#800080]The Rockcliffs area holds primarily troutski's, perchies, and chubs. There are some smaller LMB's and SMB's around but the big fish tend to stay on the main lake areas(every now and then 16 inchers can be found at the Rockcliffs). [/#800080]

[#800080] The big fish like to have rocks to warm up too and deep water to suspend. YOU CAN'T ACCESS THE BIG FISH AREAS WITH A FLOAT TUBE. Sorry, unless you like to hike or have someone drop you off from a boat tuber are SOL(I've tried).[/#800080]

[#800080] Big fish are usually over 20". There are plenty of 4 to 6 lbers, but the big'uns are mostly on a perch diet. Also, big fish don't normally come shallow. Sometimes when the sun has crested the hills in the morning, a couple of big smallies are caught under ten foot of water. [/#800080]

[#800080] We have probably a little less than four weeeks to catch some good'uns before [/#800080][#800080]the[/#800080][#800080] fry start to hatch. If we are lucky, it could get good until after the 4th of July. [/#800080]

Thanks a bunch for your responses and comments guys! They give me a little more insight as to what I can expect when I get there. I'm shooting to make it there Saturday if all works out. I have a sneekin' feeling that somewhere in that Res. is a world glass Perchski with my name tattooed on it!

Are there a lot of perch in Jordanelle? Never fished there.

From what I understand there are plenty for all. But that huge old bugger is mine![laugh]

[cool]Well, Daniel, since the daily limit at Jordanell is 50 PERCH PER PERSON, I'd say there's a few of em in there. You should get out there and give it a shot! A lot of the perch are tiny (like 3-4 inches), but there are also some nice ones in there.

I fished Jordanelle last night (6-3) from about 5:30 to 9:00PM. I launched my one man pontoon boat at the personal watercraft ramp, but the wind was howling so I headed west of the boat ramp to where there is a little cove. The waves were still rocking me in the cove so I decided to land and fish from shore.

Withing five minutes I had caught a 10" and a 12" smallmouth bass. Both were fat and very healthy. Kept fishing a while longer and could only feel the perch pecking at my jig. About 6:30, when the wind died, I launched again. This time I set myself about fifteen feet off shore. I would cast towards shore and bring my jig back slowly, had hits everytime and caught a bunch of perch. I eventually got sick of fishing the northern shore of the cove and headed to the other side. Found some bigger perch on this side. Got bored there and decided to drift in the middle of the cove. There were perch again.

Ended up catching 2 smallies, 3 chubs (fatest things I've ever seen!), and about 30 perch(which made a tasty dinner). My brother who just fished the north shoreline the whole evening managed to catch 2 smallies (both about 11"), 1 chub, and 6 perch. The smallies were all caught on a 1" Berkley microtube in pink shad on a 1/16oz head. I caught all of perch and chubs on a 1/16oz smoke gitzit.

Going back up tonight and am probably going to try out a little deeper to see if I can't find some nice smallies. A medium retrieve speed seemed to be the best. Hope this helps.
hope you killed every one of those nasty chubs!! That lake is getting full of them.
