We are heading to Yellowstone Lake the end of this month for some fishing. I need some ideas on how to catch the Lakers on a more regular basis. We catch them while fishing for the Cutts but would like to target the lakers specifically so we can help out the Cutts. Any one have some tips we could use to catch the Macs? We do not have down riggers and in yellowstone you can not use lead jig heads so if any one knows where i could get some non-lead jig heads that would help too.

Have you tried our sponsor?? WWW.Tackledirec.com or Cabelas. There is quite a selecttion of brass and bismuth weights available now.

Some of the lakes don't allow lead weights under 1/2oz. But do allow them from 5/8oz on up.

If I was going to jig for lake trout at Yellowstone lake I would use 1 oz silver spoons but any of the standard lake trout methods should work at Yellowstone Lake. Just be careful about the regulations. I haven't seen this years fishing regs for Yellowstone Park so some of the things that I mention below may have changed. If you have lures with multiple trebble hooks don't forget to take the extra trebble hooks off. Also don't forget to buy your boat permit and have your life jackets because they will check you for everything. I have also heard that lead downrigger balls and lead core line may be illigeal in the park in the near future.

The only lake trout that I have caught or anyone else that I was fish with caught were when we were fishing for cutthroat. We haven't caught any lake trout over 22" out of Yellowstone lake but I know of a few larger ones that have been caught.

[cool][#408080]Hi there UintaBrook, Have posted Wyoming's 2004 fishing regulations. I have been studying these regs for I too will be heading up that way in August[/#408080]. [#408080]They are sure more complicated than that of the California's regulations. Good luck on you trip.[/#408080]
