last summer i caught a fish at yuba reservoir which i assume was a walleye i had never caught on before and hadnt seen an actual picture o a walleye until december then i noticed tjey had fairly large scales and the fish i caught had no noticable scales i could run my hand up and down the fish and did not feel any scales this fish was also silverish gray all over with a very small amount of white on the belly this fish did have rows at least 4 of canine sharp jagged looking teeth th gray color was on his back silverish gray was in his middle head to tail then his belly had some white on it

Barracuda!...........uh, maybe not. It could have also been a Northern pike. Walleye are aptly named. Did the eyes have a silvery, almost gem like appearance? Also, walleyes have a large spiny dorsal fin in the middle of the back, while pike do not. Both species have the sharp teeth. both are in Yuba.

This is a Yuba pike... Pike don't really have scales, they have spots, their fins have a reddish tint, and they look like a torpedo with a big mouth full of razor sharp teeth. They are also known as slimers snot rockets, which might conjure up some memories if it was indeed a pike and it slimed up the carpet in your boat.

This is a Yuba walleye... They are fatter, their mouth is more typically shaped though its full of teeth. and perhaps their most distinguishing feature is their large eyes (and white tip on bottom on tail fin). They are also known as old marble eyes.
both of your posts connect to the same picture, you might want to change the second one so it goes to the walleye, [Wink]

do you recall if the fish put up much of a fight? if not it was probably a walleye, if it fought like a son og a gun it more then likely was a pike. also from what i recall of them the walleyes there really didnt have much in the way of scales.

ocean caught a pike there that was a real slime snot rocket, this thing was just oozing with slime.

my best bet was that you caught a walleye. i bet he sure tasted good
