[#800000]How are you doing TubeDude,[/#800000]
[#800000]Found that they just reduced the price of the "Outcast Fish Cat Cougar" toon to $499. It breaks down into 7 pieces with the longest about 3½'. That would fit nicely in my small G35. It has 4 bladders [2 @ per toon so that it rides lower in the water]. Might have to get me one of those suckers. Riverwire would probably be my best bet as there is no tax or shipping charges.[/#800000]

[cool][#0000ff]Hey Dryrod, I don't know if you caught the recent thread on that craft or not, but I have decided to get one too. My game plan is to find one on display somewhere, to verify all of the quality and features I hope to find, and then to order through Riverwire. That is where I got my Super Fat Cat and it can save a few bucks to avoid getting dinged for shipping.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I can see where one of those would add a lot of water to be fished...with greater range and faster speed. It would allow some decent slow trolling without getting a hernia, and would definitely help power back into an offshore breeze.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]When I get one, I think I will finally break down and add an anchor to my ensemble. With the higher profile of a 'toon you are going to get moved across the water more in a breeze. As long as you can position yourself upwind from your honey hole, the anchor will save you a lot of energy and frustration.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Don't quite think I am ready to add an electric motor yet though. Maybe a couple more years of collecting grey hair and stiffer joints will change my mind. In the meantime, I ain't ready to pay more just to register a pontoon for a motor.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Yessir. I think that is a good addition to the well equipped flotation fisherman's arsenal. Can't pack it back into the mountains, but wherever you can launch close to your vehicle you should be able to launch and beach with ease.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#800000]Hi there TubeDude,[/#800000]
[#800000]My exact thoughts. Planned on looking at the unit over at Bob Marriotts. Want to make sure that I can get the sucker in my car. I talked to the folks at Outcast today and they said that the OFCC will have less wind resistance that my SFCat. Too often the wind comes up around 9 or 10 at Irvine Lake making tubing an excerise in futility. [/#800000]

[black]I was wondering how did this model tested out, I’m looking for one in my price range now, unfortunately Sam’s does not carry them any longer.[/black]

If that is the one with 10" diameter toons, you will love the heck out of it and you don't get blowen around that much more than with a high seating float tube. Plus you can haul an anchor and put a small minn kota motor for reasonable price.
Tube Dude, I thought you had a Cougar and you didn't care for it?
[signature]
Yes - the dia. of the toons are 10". However, the price has gone along with the price of gas. The price is now $599. Riverwire has it for $549 for a limited time.

I think they have-em at Sportswarehouse for 499. But not quiet sure.

[cool][#0000ff]Yes, I did buy a used one and had it out a couple of times, just to get the real feel of it. Of all the 'toons I have looked at and tried, I liked the Cougar the best. It is well made, with quad air chambers that ride lower in the water and all of the quality materials and workmanship of Outcast products.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]My ultimate personal decision is that I am basically a tuber and not a tooner. I prefer the hands free fishing and easier reach and access to everything afforded by fishing from my Fat Cat. With even a slight breeze, the Cougar required attention to the oars to keep from being blown out of position. Fin power alone would not control it.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Yeah, I know, use an anchor. Sorry, but I am not an anchor person. I mostly cast jigs and other lures and I move along as I do so. My style of fishing is not conducive to being anchored. When the wind gets strong enough that it requires an anchor to fish, I head for shore. That much wind whacks out my finesse style of fishing anyway. Too much bow in the line or other interference by the wind makes it impossible to detect the light ticks and takes of finesse biters.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Same thing on the motor. It is nice to have an auxiliary power supply, for long hauls or trolling, but the addition in weight and fuss and bother takes the whole experience out of the realm of my style of fishing. I am not a troller. Can't stand washing lures. I prefer to be more up close and personal and to combine art with science.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]But, that is just one dude's opinion.[/#0000ff]

[black]And if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Good point TD, people got to stick to what works for them.[/black]

Tube,
I had similar experience when I tried the pontoon boat. After you bought and sold the Cougar citing some of the reasons you have just reiterated I lost all desire to own a "toon". I agree wholeheartedly that you just can't beat a good float tube for hands free stealth and finesse fishing.
On a different note the board has been incredibly slow for the last couple of days. Is it just me or are others experiencing this too? Sometimes after waiting quite a while "Done" appears at the bottom right of Internet Explorer and I get a blank screen except for the logo and banner ads at the top.

[cool][#0000ff]Periodically the entire board DOES slow down. Sometimes it is a function of routine maintenance or upgrades. Other times...who knows?[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The overall volume on BFT has just kept growing and growing. It has grown way beyond what anyone would have guessed a couple of years ago. The increased bandwidth use and the load on the servers sometimes just chokes the system.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I have a pretty fast computer and high speed internet and I get "lag time" on occasion too. I am guessing that there is some end of month cleanup and accounting going on.[/#0000ff]

I've experienced it, too. I just wait a bit or come back later and it usually speeds back up. In my mind I was attributing it to crowded bandwidth.
[]Nice moniker TD. At first glance I thought we had a new member.
