we took the victory out of longbeach and we had a pretty good trip. the final tally for me was 15 calico bass with 8 nice keepers. and 2 that I should have kept. the rest were too small. I also caught 3 really nice sand bass, and 1 32" baracuda. My buddy caught 6 calicos and 2 baracuda and 1 baracuda head (the sea lion got the rest of the fish). We actually ended up with more fish than anyone else on the boat so I can't complain. I am sure it was beginners luck,but I sure won't complain. I am just glad I spent a little extra and bought some jigs to use instead of just the bait, because in the morning there was a good stretch where i was the only one pulling in fish. i was using a yellow head in 3/4 oz with red eyes and a dark green body.
