Animas River - Still running high at about 1,560 cfs but starting to fish well with olive and brown caddis or streamers. There is Gold Medal Water from Lightner Creek to Purple Cliffs, flies and lures only, with a bag and possession limit of two trout 16 inches or longer.

Beaver Creek Reservoir - Lake is full and trout fishermen are doing well on rainbows and browns, mostly with bait but some on lures. Kokanee are also active, hitting spinners cast from shore or trolled near the dam. Best fishing is early morning and early evening.

Blue Mesa Reservoir - Salmon fishing remains good. Troll Pink Jewels or Kokanee Killers in red, green and pearl/red at 3 to 4 colors. Lake trout fishing has tapered off but a few are still being caught on large firetiger or frog-colored Kwikfish trolled at 70 to 90-foot depths. Fishing for brown trout and rainbows is fair at the Gunnison river inlet using Power Bait, worms and Rapala-type lures. A few perch are being caught up the Soap Creek and Cebolla Creek inlets using small jigs tipped with meal worms or nightcrawlers.

Conejos River - Flows have dropped to 566 cfs at Mogote and 161 cfs at Conejos and the water is all but clear. Two sections have special regulations: from the lower bridge at Platoro to the confluence of the South Fork, artificial flies and lures only with a bag and possession limit of two trout 16 inches or longer; from Mekhaven Resort downstream to the upper boundary of Aspen Glade Campground, artificial flies only with a bag and possession limit of two trout 16 inches or longer.
