Wiperslayer and I launched at 6:30 this morning and this guy was standing by his truck in the bay. I had to take a couple of pictures just because it was the first time I had seen this happen, I think it was a 1/2 Dodge. WH2

Could have been worse.
Willard is so low, the truck is not completley under.
If he had done the same at the lucerne ramp, his truck would be in about a hudred feet of water.
I have seen guys do that before, but never that far off the end of the ramp.
Too bad no one had a couple tow straps. Some one could have helped him out.
You should have given him your number so he could get those pics from you. I am sure they would help when he tries to explain his issue to the insurance company. Plus, in a few years, hes going to be able to laugh about it, and I would sure want the pics to prove my story.
P.S. be careful launching at willard. I hear theres some sunken trucks in the marina![
] You wouldnt want to hit the prop on one of those.

I know I would of got a pic of that . Thanks for sharing . He is lucky it wasn't a deeper lake or he wouldn't be able to see it .

If you look close at the second picture you will see a tow strap going to the truck, someone was helping him when we got there. He was an older guy that was trying to launch his boat by his self, his boat trailer is under water beside his truck.

That would ruin a perfectly good day. So lets leave it there until we are done fishing. You have to take care of the important things first.

Well,I was going to ask you if it was deep enough to still launch, don't have to now[crazy]Hope the guy got his truck & trailer out of the lake[unsure]

yes, that would ruin anybody's day. i always wonder what the story is,when ya see that kind of thing.as far as leaving it there i'am sure that has to to be illegal.i hope he got it out ok,and his insurance is paided up

I ask the guy as I was launching what had happened and he said that he had tied a rope to the boat but when he backed up he went in the water too far. The boat came off the trailer and started to float away, he jumped out of the truck to get the rope and forgot to put it in gear, the truck keep right on backing into the water until the trailer jack knifed and stopped the truck from going any deeper. He must have been out by 8:30 because I talked to a guy that launched then and the truck was gone. WH2

Not a very happy 4th of July weekend for him! That is tough luck, but like was said earlier, it could have been much worse. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting the picture. Too bad for that guy.

That's a bad way to spend your independence day weekend on the lake. Hopefully the insurance will pay up and all will be fine.

In hindsight he probably should have let the boat float away. I'm sure a friendly fellow boater would have towed it the short distance to shore or to a pier for him. Tough luck. Kind of makes me wish I'd of been there to help him with a tow strap or something.

Hey, is that a hemi?

WH2- That reminds me at Mantua last summer a guy was pushing his little boat off a utility trailer and didn't have the rope tied to the boat. He sure looked funny as he realized his boat was floating away on the water. Luckily we were able to take his rope and go tie it onto his boat and drag it back to the ramp for him. Thaks for the pictures. Acey
