Twice I have lost parts on my manual Scotty Downrigger and both times the manufacturer has sent me the needed parts for free (without even asking)! Not many companies like that out there anymore. They have my vote, and the second downrigger that I purchase for my boat will also be a Scotty.

Hey Kent thats good to hear. I'll admit, I dont know diddly squat about downrigger but I want to slap one one or two on the boat sooner or later. I had one moons ago and sold it with the boat but I dont recall using it more than a couple times. Where does a guy find Scotty downriggers in this area, all I've seen is Cannon.

BTW, Anyone have much to do with Big Jon's downriggers? If so, what do you think of them as a product and the company as a whole?

Marine Products on 1700 South carries them, but I would probably buy one online.

Thanks Kent. That gives me a chance to eyeball them and kick the tires before hand.

Hi Kent, I also have heard that scotty downriggers are good. I myself prefer Cannon, I own two cannon electric downriggeers. I lost the top wheel off of one, I emailed cannon and they sent me a repacement within 3 days no charge. Also the motors are garenteed for life. I guess it just depends on what you like. Good luck and good fishing.
