Hmmm, how much water? Or do you just sprinkle it on the liver?

How about over night in the Grest Salt Lake?

Does anything live in that lake other than specialized minnows?

Brine shrip. Thats it. Its too salty for anything else. They use the brine shrimp to make pet food. And Morton gets their salt from there, other than that its just a large body of shallow water. I think the deepest places are around 22 feet. I could be off on that by a foot or two. But thats about it. They do have a area sectioned off called Willard Bay. It is fresh water and it is stocked with Wipers {cross between a striped bass and a white bass} and a few other game fish. Its a popular place for a lot of the BFT'ers to meet out here. Al

Sounds like a fun place to hang out! How do they keep the fresh water and the salt water separated?

Sorry to get off on your subject southernman. I was being sarcastic about the Great Salt Lake. But it just might work. Al

I use 1 lb of salt to 1 gallon of water. You could put more salt if you would like but the dead liver can only absorb it at a slow rate. You will need to leave it in the solution for 3 days prior to using them for fishing.
You could also add any scenting agents at this time as they will self impregnate the liver and provide a uniform scent thoughout. This absorbtion rate is based upon the liver being sliced into 1inch thick slices.

Thanks bro. I've never used liver before. So how's about would I go cuttin' it, in what shape, etc? A pound of salt? Wowza! I best get out to the Great Salt Lake to get some!

Take the whole liver and cut the slices lengthwise from the flattest shape that it comes in. That should make them about 1inch by 3/4 inch depending on the thickness of the liver itself.
Water out of the Great Salt Lake could almost be used at face value. You could also add vinegar to it in order to increase the acidity of the salted water to around 12%.
