I took the old man up to trial lake on saturday for some fast fishing action. Fished from 2pm until 8pm with excellent fishing all day. I stopped counting after my 10th fish. It made my dads day catching alot of fish. He doesnt fish much so he would rather catch alot of smaller fish than none at all. Biggest fish was a 16' rainbow. Pretty big for a planter. We fished out of a raft. I used the small glow in the dark tube jigs that are generally used for ice fishing. I had a fish on the first cast. Also my dad was catching them on a rainbow kastmaster. A fly behind a bubble also produced for us. we could see fish jumping and swimming every where. Great place to take the kids.

Trial lake is really a great place for some fast action planters. They usually plant it very consistantly throughout the summer. If you've got any kids, I highly recommend taking a drive up there. Take a picnic lunch with you and have yourselves a good time.

[red]If you are coming from the Ogden area is it better to go up through Evanston and back down or over past Rockport to Kamas and over? Which is faster, better roads, better scenery, any preferances? [/red]

It is up hwy 150 out of Kamas, when you pay your 3 bucks at the maned pay booth they have a free map that you can ask for if they do not offer it. and it will show you where Trail lake is and i will see if i can find you a link to it. A tip what is marked as wall lake is not wall lake it is the big lake below the miss marked wall lake, on the free map you get. here is a link that shows where it is. Thanks! Are there fish in all those lakes?

Most of them do the smaller ones and the ones that are real shallow do not. You can get some small books from the DWR called Lakes of the Uintas that will tell you which lakes do and do not have fish in them. You would want the Provo, Weber drainage for the mirror lake area, they only run 2.00 or so plus shipping.

Hustler there are alot of fish in the lakes near the highway and Ive heard there are fish in alot of the lakes you hike too. I know twin lakes is a short hike and has alot of fish. Ive had good success there. Yeah when you pay at the booth they give you a map to the whole area. If you need any more specifics send me a pm

There is another lake maybe another 1/4 mile past twin lakes that I've been to and had even better luck than at twin lakes. I can't remember the name offhand, but it is very shallow but has some decent sized brookies in it. Lots of little lakes in that basin and it's really pretty there, as it is everywhere in the Uintahs.

What portion of the lake were you fishing? When I go up there, I usually fish on or around the dam.

I was fishing near the damn and along the west shore line in a raft.
