Fished both on Saturday. Was hoping to find more dry fly action but couldn't get them to rise much. Caught a few on nymphs (pheasant tails, prince, red midge) they were all fat strong browns. Didn't get into any cuts though.

The Cutts may be in decline in Currant. I've noticed a lot more beaver dams up stream that maybe warming the water to much for the cutts.
The stream is not as good as it was even 3 years ago.

I agree it used to be full of cutts. You used to be able to walk to the edge of the creek and watch tons swim away. I love catching browns don't get me wrong but those big cutts were sure nice.

i doubt its from the beaver dams. they have been building them in there for as long as i can remember. they blow the dams out and they build them right back. i would tend to say its a correlation of more pressure on the creek. alot more people go to that creek then use to. i have noticed any river with cutts that gets alot of pressure, their populations decline.

It's the same way with another river in that area that used to be one of the best Cutthroat streams in the state until the DWR for some unknown reason removed all the special regs for the Cutts. A few years ago more than half of the fish caught were Cutts with many over 15". Now it's just another Brown trout stream with a few Brookies and once in a while a small Cutt thrown in.

It is paved on some of the steeper hills but still mostly graded dirt.

I was up there (in the area) with my brother last Saturday scouting for the upcoming bowhunt. I was surprised at the large number of boats on the lake. Is that normal or was it just the because of the holiday weekend? As a fishing note, depending on the year, I have seen several fish in the stream above the lake. I took a gander but didn't see any on Saturday.
