There will be a group of people camping at Rockport the weekend of Aug. 13th to the 15th. They will be there for an acoustic music jam. I will be joining them for some great music and I hope to do some fishing when I'm not playing. It is open to everyone to play or just listen. The area will be somewhere by the gate called the old church site. Now for the important guestion. Does anyone know if you can use the same tactics jiging from a float tube that we used ice fishing? I know that you will be moving around on a tube and not stationary like you are on the ice but would the jiging with castmasters and small jigs tipped with worm still be productive? Do any of you fish this way in the summer on any other waters? If you have any better tips for fishing Rockport from a tube please let me know what they are. Thanks for your help DKS.

I don't know about Rockport but yes I have tried "ice fishing" from my tube several times and yes it does work.

jigging is the way i fish trout this time of year. I like to use 2 - 2 1/2" tubes and 1/4 oz lead heads to get down to the fish as they can hold quit deep this type of the year. I even use my ice rod for jigging makes it alot easier to get a fish to the tube with a short rod

Thanks for the info. Do you know where I might start looking for perch that is close to the boat ramp? I will be on my pontoon boat and I plan to launch it there.
