A few other adults and I took a couple dozen kids from my ward up to Deer Creek on Saturday for a youth activity. I must have pulled more than 20 kids over the course of three hours behind my boat on the double tube. My boat ran fine all day until I decided to head to shore for a barbeque. I beached the boat on a muddy/sandy shore for an hour or so while we ate. The wind was blowing like mad and the mud was really churned up around my boat and outboard. When we went back out on the water, we pushed the boat into deeper water, and she ran fine for about two to three minutes and then quit. I couldn't get the outboard to run well again for the rest of the day. It would start up and then putter out, and eventually it wouldn't start at all. I recently changed the spark plugs and fuel filter myself and have been to Jordanelle for the smallies a couple of times since then, and the motor has run fine, so I doubt it's either of those elements.
I've been wanting to get the outboard jetted for a couple months now anyway, and since I now have this new reason to get the boat looked at, do any of you know of an honest and reasonable boat/outboard mechanic in Utah County? I have called SS Marine, and boy are they pricey. I haven't tried calling Brimhall yet. Do any of you know of anyone else who would be good to contact?
Thanks,
PF
