I have already entered a common carp and this weekend I caught a mirror carp. I never thought to enter it because it was a carp.... I assume I can enter a mirror carp as well, right? If so..I gotta get out there and get me another one!

that sure is a big-en.

are those big irregular shape scales or is it just coloration.

first time I ever seen a pic of a miror carp...

They are big irregular shaped scales. David's was fully scaled and not a common catch for a mirror carp. (no punintended Smile )Mine was more like it, with missing scales.

I also learned that if you catch one with NO SCALES
(which is the MOST UNCOMMON)
it is called a leather carp!

thanks...
that's a new one for the books for me too.

So what's the difference between a mirror carp and a common carp?

Nice fish you two caught. Glad to see hubby is catching something finally! Tell him that we said he should catch fish more often.

the differances are quite distint.

open up the link below and scroll up this page to veiw the miror carp and you will see, you cant miss them because they are so drastic...

Dave, sure wish I coulda caught a common carp like that during the carp contest! You'll hafta whip up some of your special bait for me since I couldn't seem to manage.

I now see the difference big time. Of course, the Asian Carp are trying to make it up this way. You know, the monsters that get so mad when you drive over them that they jump in your boat and try to knock you overboard and drive over you to see how you like it? Yeah, I'm hoping the series of locks and dams up here don't allow them to reach too far up. But they always have other ways to get around (creeks, lakes, other rivers).
