just wanted to let any that is headed to squaw/holmes that construction has begun.was there today and construction has begun on the prep area, they are wideing the area.they have made a detour around the work area.the decline is not bad but the incline back up to the boat ramp is pretty steep.i didnt have any problem's but i have a o/b ,becareful if you have a i/b with a outdrive,it might drag a little.i had heard that they will be wideing the parking lot also, but i dont know if that will happen this year or not.

fiishing was very slow, but it always is at the gorge this time of year.marked alot of fish, but nothing seemed to interest them.so spent most of the day just enjoying the weather.

well as to what i know, i was tolded two years ago from the forest service people in manila that this project was going to happen.was acutally supposed to start last year, and it didnt for what ever reason.i was tolded at one time the the prep area would be wider.the parking lot was to be made bigger,by cutting alot of the hill behind it away.was also tolded that the boat ramp MIGHT be widened in the furture, this boat ramp is seeing a increase in activity ever year.

as to why i know, iam just someone that wants to know where the money from the user pass is going.the list is long that the forest service want's to do to make improvements, some i have agreed with, other i haven't iam like anyone else just want to know where the money was going.

the one thing that i never want to see is the road to the boat ramp paved, but's that just me.

if they started this two weeks ago then they havent made a lot of progress yet .

We were up at Squaw, (Holmes Crossing), whats with the name change, last weekend & had no trouble launching the boat. Our hydraulic pump even went out on the outboard, and we had to pull the boat out with the motor down. Not a problem. We just went slow and watched it & it didn't even get close to hitting until we crested the hill at the top by the construction. Had to disconnect a hydraulic line & manually lift the motor up. $270 bucks for a new pump. Were getting the old one re-built for $150. They sure know how to gouge you. We did fair on both kokanee & macks. We marked a lot of kokes, but they didn't seem too interested. About every 5th or 6th school you would pull your gear through, you could get one to cooperate. We did find one school that had some aggresive fish, so we GPS'd it and was able to pull some more fish out of there. We picked up a few mack, but they were all pups. Really nice trip though, and we got a lot of work done on the cabin.

sorry to hear about your trim pump, been there done that before.i lost the one on my old o/b after it was all said and done was about 900.oo dlrs.

i didnt think anyone with a o/b would have any trouble with the construction, was thinking more about some one with a long wheel base truck, pulling a boat with a inboard.

as for the name change,it was changed to be poltically correct, they changed it last year, but will always be squaw hollow to me.

glad you caught a few fish.we were late getting on the water.drug some metal around for awhile, then when it got hot we went and played in the water.
