[size 2]PIERRE, S.D. – Game, Fish and Parks officials are reminding campers planning an outdoor holiday for the Labor Day Weekend that there is still time to make reservations.[/size]
[size 2]"With Labor Day Weekend just around the corner, many campers have already made their reservations, but there are still some parks with campsites available," said Doug Hofer, state parks director.[/size]
[size 2]Those state parks and recreation areas with campsites available as of Monday, Aug. 16, include: [/size] [ul] [li][size 2]Angostura Recreation Area near Hot Springs[/size] [li][size 2]Cow Creek Recreation Area near Pierre[/size] [li][size 2]Custer State Park near Custer[/size] [li][size 2]Farm Island Recreation Area near Pierre[/size] [li][size 2]Hartford Beach State Park near Milbank[/size] [li][size 2]Indian Creek Recreation Area near Mobridge[/size] [li][size 2]Lake Louise Recreation Area near Miller[/size] [li][size 2]Oahe Downstream Recreation Area near Pierre/Ft. Pierre[/size] [li][size 2]Platte Creek Recreation Area near Platte[/size] [li][size 2]Swan Creek Recreation Area near Akaska[/size] [li][size 2]Union Grove State Park near Beresford[/size] [li][size 2]West Bend Recreation Area near Pierre[/size] [li][size 2]West Whitlock Recreation Area near Gettysburg[/size] [li][size 2]West Pollock Recreation Area near Pollock[/size] [/li][/ul]

Reservations for the Labor Day Weekend can be made until 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, through [/font][url "http://www.campsd.com/"][font "Arial"]www.CampSD.com[/font][/url][/size][font "Arial"][size 2] or by calling 1-800-710-CAMP (2267). On Thursday, Sept. 2, all sites not reserved become available on a first-come, first-served basis. [/size]
[size 2]In addition, horse campsites were available for reservation at Oakwood Lakes State Park near Bruce, Pelican Lake Recreation Area near Watertown and Union Grove State Park near Beresford. Bear Butte State Park near Sturgis and Pease Creek Recreation Area near Lake Andes, the newest horse camps in the system, have sites available first-come, first-served.[/size]
[size 2]Campers without reservations for Labor Day Weekend can consider visiting one of the eight state parks and recreation areas that are entirely first-come, first-served. These areas include Bear Butte and Fisher Grove state parks, and Burke Lake, Lake Hiddenwood, Little Moreau, Llewellyn Johns, North Wheeler, and Okobojo Point recreation areas. Custer State Park, Buryanek, Chief White Crane, Cow Creek, Lake Louise, and Lewis & Clark recreation areas also have a limited number of first-come, first-served campsites.[/size]
[size 2]After the Labor Day Weekend, sites at most parks become available first-come, first-served, but a number of parks do accept autumn reservations. Reservations for arrival dates through Oct. 11 are accepted at Big Sioux, Custer, Lewis and Clark, Newton Hills, PaliSades and Snake Creek.[/size]
