PIERRE, S.D. – South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks, in cooperation with the South Dakota Bat Working Group, have developed the South Dakota Bat Management Plan in an effort to guide groups (e.g., agencies/organizations) and individuals with bat conservation activities.
"This state management plan includes conservation sections related to management, research and education, but also includes general bat information such as bat ecology, bat and health issues and bat species (in South Dakota)," said GFP Terrestrial Biologist Alyssa Kiesow. "As a result, the South Dakota Bat Management Plan is a management plan and an informational tool that many groups or individuals can use to protect and understand bats."
Copies of this state management plan can be obtained by visiting the Wildlife Diversity Program website at http://www.sdgfp.info/Wildlife/Diversity/index.htm, the South Dakota Bat Working Group website at [#0000ff]nat_hist.sdstate.edu/SDBWG/SDBWG.html[/#0000ff], or by contacting Alyssa Kiesow by phone at (605) 773-2742 or by e-mail at alyssa.kiesow@state.sd.us.
