Relief For Montana's Heat-Stressed Blackfoot River

HELENA, MT—In response to low water flows and high temperatures, Montana biologists are asking anglers to curb their fishing activities on the Blackfoot River and some of its tributaries until water conditions improve.

Consequently, anglers have been asked to fish the main Blackfoot River only in the morning, and to refrain entirely from fishing its bull trout tributaries.

Low flows, combined with high water temperatures, concentrate fish in certain areas, thus putting pressure on oxygen and nutrient levels in these spots.
