How is this cold front going to affect the fishing this weekend? Is it a good thing or bad?I know in the ocean its a good thing especially after it passes that when the fishing is awesome!

[cool]That's a good question, ocean, and it would require a long answer. Briefly, I'd say that as far as trout fishing goes, I think this cooler weather is helping matters as far as trout fishing goes. It should bring the trout in closer to shore or closer to the surface as things get cooler. When the water gets warmer during July and the hotter part of August, the trout go deeper, and sometimes aren't as agressive as usual. I'd say this cooler water should make the fishing better at Strawberry, Scofield, E-Lake, and other trout hotspots.

As for the warm water species, I don't know, but I'm sure TubeDude and a few others have the answer to that.

As for me, I want to head up to Strawberry pretty damn soon!!

[cool]Should be pretty good up there, mrs. ocean. As long as the wind isn't bad.[pirate]

Actually we prefer the wind to blow especially on a slow day.I throw out a bobber with a worm were the wind is blowing from and let it drift .That way it covers more water. Those e-lake cutts cant resist a floating wiggling worm!

sometimes ( mostly in the fall and the spring) catfish respond well to cold fronts. in the summer a cold front can turn the fish off for a few days. i have caught my biggest cats during cold fronts( in the spring and fall) for example, can you remember memorial day weekend? SEVIER THUNDER STORM WARNINGS, i decided to go CAMPING at utah lake in hail, rain, and sleet my parents left me and my freind at the lake and they got a hotel... ( wimps) for a shot at one cat, i got dumped on and frozen! it dropped from 88 degrees the day before to 67 degrees( air temp) and that night was some of the best catfishing i have ever had! i caught a ton of mud cats a bunch of smaller channel cats, and a few toads as well. including this 12lber i caught on carp meat. so fishing fronts for cats can be good. but also very bad!

A while back the cats in utah lake were coming down with some kind of virus that gave them sores. That might be what that was on your kitty.
