I had work open up my schedule yesterday, and decided to hit Rock Cliffs again. The algae is still there, and it's still nasty.

I hiked in just a little ways, less than a mile to right before the no wake zone. I fished there and about a hundred yards past the buoys. The water still had algae in it, but much less than the bay.

I got into a few fish, the biggest was a 20"er. It fought like crazy. I had to hold my rod right above the real with both hands, and akwardly real when I got a chance. Fun. It was in fairly deep water, 20' maybe, on a 4" Predator style Maniac stick. I tried watermelon Senkos, and smoke Senkos, and the Predator Maniac outfished them. Good stuff.

There were some skiers that I waved down to take these pic's from their boat with my camera.

Nice fish Nate! How were you fishing the Maniac,on the bottom?

Nate, you're a maniac. Maniacnate has a ring to it.

Maniacnate, huh?[Smile] I'd probably have to pay some royalties to James for it, but then again, I stole "senko"nate from mr. yamamoto....

fishcrazy- I was fishing really slow and on the bottom. Texas-style was snagging a lot less than wacky, of course. Still, they were hitting them again on the fast retreive back to my tube, so go figure. I probably should have tried a faster moving crankbait or spinnerbait, but was lazy. The 20"er spit out a 5" perch during one of his jumps, that's the biggest perch I've seen disgourged.

Hey! easy there!
Statements like that will get you removed from the "cool kids" membership list.

Theres a reason I needed that specific color pattern, and was so glad when maniac lures made it PERFECTLY. Thats why I order them by the hundred.

Glad to see they are working for you.
Thats an awesome fish.
Big fish love maniacs.

I see you have found that there are not only advantages to having colors that are specific to our mountain west area, but you also have found that maniacs work better, and last longer, and cost much less.

Thanks for the reply, TubeDude.

I am going to try more perch imitations over the next few weeks. I'm curious how everyone else does with them, too.
