Well since TD brought up yuba on one of my posts and my daughter keeps bugging me about going out there every weekend i guess i will take a trip out there probably this sunday .Hopefully one of the rangers is there so i can talk to them about the lake and its future.

I have not been there in a while but I have been told it is very, very low. The docks have been pulled and I think you can launch but its at your own risk. There is way less water than they were anticipating and I heard the DWR is very concerned that they may lose the fish they stocked this year.
I'm afraid all these lower elevation lakes are in big trouble unless we get lots of snow a couple years in a row.

I believe all that was restocked after the dam was repaired. However, there have been rumors of walleye and perch being caught since then. If there are some in there, they must have swam up river when the water was low.
Hey do you think that some walleyes might be in DMAD?I know one huge pike went up river when they started to drain yuba because me and my daughter chased that monster and it went straight for the drain! I talked to a ranger shortly after they stopped draining yuba and he told me that there were a gazillion dead carp all over the river and a few walleye and channels. Some of the workers there took some huge cats home for dinner too.I walked along the river and i didnt see any eyes or perch.I wonder were they went.DMAD or gunnison bend maybe what do youthink TD!

Redmond! Now you got me exited!Looking forward to hooking up with one of those toothy critters again. There was a redmond fishing party last feb and there were some pikers caught .My son was one of them.Me ,fish4fish ,christy, southerman and pikeman were standing around the fire shooting the breeze and my son kept saying he had a fish on .I kept telling ok whatever! None of us paid much attention to him because he is so hyper we all thought he was just acting like he was cacthing a fish. But the little turd did!He showed us!Yuba was the first water i ever fished when i moved here 7 years ago.We fished from the shore and i casted out a gold spoon with a chartreuse curly tail attached to it and we caught 5 rainbows around the 5lb range.I caught my first walleye when i bought my boat that summer.I was drift fishing like i did in the ocean. We hooked up witha ton of carp and 1 walleye.I have also caught pike there. The biggest one i caught was with fish4fish.I was jigging by the dam and i thought i snagged a carp.Man did it put up a fight .I caught it on 6lb test.Fought hard like a carp and moved a little like a walleye.Heres some pics from yuba fish.

[cool]Wow, what a lunker, Pat! That Yuba must have been one hell of a fishery back in the day! I've lived in Utah now for 8 years (originally from Nevada), and unfortunately, I never got out to Yuba before it all went to pot. I sure hope that lake comes back and becomes a trophy fishery again for the toothy ones. Right now, I guess we all need to pray for snow and massive snow at that, or do a snow dance, or whatever we can think of for those that are so inclined!

They stocked it with perch (to get a head start) and rainbows (for catching now) When they drained it there were a tremendous amount of carp trapped in irrigation canals all down the river. I heard of some eyes - but not many.
I don't have enough fingers to count the number of times DMAD has just been a stream or full since I moved here. It goes up and down a lot -- game fish don't have a chance. They really drain it and Gunnison Bend down in the fall - there are several springs between Yuba and Delta that will fill them back up by spring run off.
What is interesting is the state record perch, walleye, catfish and LM bass are probably swimming around the Power Plants holding lake

I heard there are some monster fish in there but getting in there to fish is not happening - unless you like jail [
