Great day to be fishing, obviously a bad day to catch fish. In 6 hours of casting I hooked 2 fish and landed 1, a friggin rainbow trout (not the place I would target if that is what I was after). I dunno what the deal was, saw a ton of fish on the edges of the remaining weeds and conditions were great, water temp was ~ 55 @ 6:30 am.

I caught the trout on a prism producer jerk bait type of dealy, the bass was hooked on a Rapala in shad colors. I tossed everything at those freaking fish, ringworms (and most other incarnations of 4-6" plastics), tubes, maniacs, beetle spins with every color tail and head you can name - lots of taps, no takers (probably the perch). I fished the center, up towards that big hill along weed edges and up near the little creek inlet all the way down the shore to the ramp - I covered it! I wasnt skunked, but for Mantua when you dont at least get some gills or perch when that is what you are targeting it stinks (with the spinners and jigs). Better than sitting at home though!

bite must have been better later in the day - maybe the water warmed up and they got more active. I dont think anyone this morning was having alot of luck

that is unusual for mantua.. i have never been skunked there. when i fish cold water for bass up there i use a 2 inch watermelon curly tail on a worm hook. and a small split shot a foot or two up the line works well.
