I was supposed to go to bear lake with BLM today, but we never got to talkin, so that didnt happen.
I decided to go to jordanelle instead. Well, the kid really wanted to go, but I knew that wasnt going to work out so I changed up and decided to go somewhere a bit closer to home.

So, we wnt to pineview. We used maniacs in the changeable craw, wich is just awesome up there, and tubes.
It was nice because I was marking fish deep, about 25 ft. So we were able to vertical jig them.
That was nice cause the boy didnt have to cast. Hes still learning, and his accuracy is not the best at the moment.

Who would think that a four year old boy would get so much enjoyment out of outfishing the old man?
When are you gonna catch one dad?
You wanna reel in my next fish dad?
You just do it like this dad!

Well, after he nailed about ten fish, he was ready to go for a boat ride. For some reason he likes that V Max opened up and screaming at 55 mph across the water.
Then of course he was ready to go home.
Wich is EXACTLY why I new better than to take him all the way to jordanelle.
So, I took him home. We had something to eat, and I decided to sneak out alone to mantua for a little largemouth action.

Boy were they on tonight.

Crank bait bite galore. I hit them everywhere I went on the lake. No big ones, but they were more active than yesterday (see the post titled largemouth'N)
I had several come right up to the boat and take the crank a foot away from me.
I think that boat is mantua camoflage. It was like they didnt even see it there they got so close before taking the lure.
I knocked down maybee 15 fish and called it a day.

It was a fun weekend.

It's good to see a dad having that much fun with his son.

I can't wait till my son out of pity asks me if I want to "reel in his next one". Good stuff.

Mike, great pictures and report. Fun when the kids can catch fish, and he looks like he got into nice ones. I'm sure that you had to Smile and perhaps chuckle a little when he started giving you advice and offering to let you reel one in.

You really did buy Tomegun's old boat huh. I thought he was just giving you a bad time. So what did you do with your other boat you just bought. Don't tell me you're keeping both of them. If that's the case then sportsmans if paying you way to much money to work on Sundays.

Yep. if you like his new one just wait two years. He buys a new one every two years. He bought mine in 2002 right off the show floor, and sold it before 2004 was even over.

We will never get rid of that boat. Bass boats are great, but I like trolling wipers, and macks, and kokanee, and all that stuff that bass boats just dont work the best for.

Everyone should have at least two boats, one for fishing, and one for duck hunting. If you are forutnate, you will find yourself with three boats, two for fishing, and one for hunting birds.

None of thats really inportant though, whats really important is that I just found two more killer spots for big smallies on pineview. No more 12 inchers for me.
Good to talk again there prov17
