I fished Deer Creek Tuesday, and Strawberry yesterday. The fishing was not as fast as it was last week--at either place-- but the fishing was good and we had a great time.
Last Friday and Saturday the trout fishing at Deer Creek was excellent (we even caught one walleye). The fish were big and they were taking large crank baits. Tuesday none of our large crank baits would trigger a hit. The trout we did catch were caught on spoons and small jointed Rapalas. We caught them fairly early in the morning and then they turned off. There were lots of fish on the finder, but we couldn't get them to hit.
The fishing at Strawberry yesterday was much more productive. Three of us caught about thirty fish. Most of them were caught on spoons trolled just 3 or 4 feet under the surface. Bigcat told me about his success with wooly buggers so I took my fly rod with me this time. When fishing was a little slow I fished with wooly buggers and had a great time. The cutts and rainbow hit both a black wooly bugger and a sparkling green one. Great fun.

LloydE,
Glad you had another great trip to Strawberry. Its lots of fun catching nice fish on light tackle, especially on a fly rod!

How deep were you fishing the wooly buggers? Thats awesome you had a good time I want to catch some of those fish on a fly pole.
Hi Joe
We were fishing with Crystalina spoons that Wal-mart used to sell. We tied a swivel about 18" above the spoon and put one 1/4 oz sinker above the swivel. Last week we didn't need to use the sinker, but this week we did.

I fished the wooly bugger on sinking line, and I let out all of my sinking line until I got to the backing. Great fun!
