[unsure] just got back from the pond down south. the final review in short is one word....... stumped
we started saturday morn. blasted out about 7:30. we took the 45 minute ride north (white canyon). ive always have had good luck up there. the water temp was 69* beutifull weather, good attitude & lots of beer. everything a guy needs.
we picked up a couple of great white carps 1ST thing 4 & 6 pounds using L.C. bevy shad patterns. swiched to top water patterns no luck. (2) hours went buy we had no green or brown fish, not even dinks. figured ok, their not real egresive today would try to pull them out by dead sticking senkos. hit some of the boulder piles i like & got nothing changed colors & texas rigged them & got nothing. the one thing i noticed was the whole white canyon upper striper city area was littered w/ floating debris lots of it. must of had some flash floods recently.
decided to hit main lake points & boulder piles (lower stiper city to horn) i switched to a brown 5" creature bait
no weight to see if that would work. i picked up (2) 2 pound max smallies. thinking i was on a roll, i spent the next two hours w/ no hits. ??? by 2:00 or so we had hit ticaboo great structure picked up a couple of dinks but again no fish. now mike (my partner) was fishing this whole time w/ grub patterns & rattle traps,(that is his favorites) w/ no luck @ all.
by 7:30 @ the dock we boated 13 fish, kept two strippers, (3) smallies, (1) crappie, released (2) green fish (small) & the rest were dinks. we were stumped. there was a club tourney (grand junction boys) going on saturday there, & i talked to them briefly, they had said the guy who won the first day there for the club only had weighed three fish. after hearing this it made me feel a little better. started talking to guys @ top of ramp & @ the restraunt & they all had tough times too.
it just goes to show ya that just cause the weather perfect (meaning high presure fo days), the water temp was perfect, & nothing went wrong, that doesnt mean the catching is going to be good. i wrote it off as a lesson well earned & would start all over agian sunday morn.
we unloaded 7:30 again, this time went towards the rinkon, iceberg canyon i think. great structure trees & rocks everywhere. the weather was overcast, but the weather temp the same. the water temp was 1.5* higher than up north though. i started puling out the crank baits & top water agian. & again the same results. even worse this time (2) dinks & that was it.
we fished in about 12 - 18 feet of water both days. that is where the graph was showing the fish. we just couldnt get them to bite. the storm moved in @ about 1:00 & naturally the winds came w/ it. by the time we got back to bullfrog there were three foot rollers in the bay & we were having fun.

the whole weekend was fun, the fishing was great. would not trade it for anything. theres an old saying that you can take a horse to water, but you cant make him drink. i thought of that on the way home & thought to myself that not every fisherman can catch fish consistently, but, every fisherman can learn on the days advents & the days out come.

My Dad and I had simular problems, we fished blue notch canyon, red canyon, good hope bay, Halls bay, and Bullfrog bay. We got 1 green and a few smallies, and nuthin' else.

We got kinda beat up heading north on sat so we were too lazy to go out on sunday. We headed home about 9:30am.
