Grandson & I troll'n for mack near the marina for about an hour without any luck. We decided it was time to change lures and was reeling in our lines when this dumb ass seagull dives down and takes my grandson's brand new Pugstone $3.99 lure and flys off with it.
We had a hell of a battle for a couple of minutes but the gull finally let go. That gull fought harder than a lot fish I've seen.

If you think seagulls are a pain, wait until you catch a pelican! That's what happened to a lot of people when I went deep sea fishing off the coast of San Diego this summer. Whenever the boat stopped so people could fish, the brown pelicans would gather around to eat the bait and chum (live minnows). Even if they didn't catch the bait, they often got tangled up in the lines. The only thing to do was haul them in and cut the line off of them while trying to avoid getting bit. Some of them had been caught so many times they had cuts and scars all over their legs, and they were pretty tame when hauled in. I guess they knew the process.
