Went largemouth fishing Friday and Saturday afternoon and most of Sunday. Found small bass at 33 Hole and 3 Finger Cove in about 15 ft. Bite was aggressive on Saturday afternoon and spotty on Sunday - almost postfrontal. Surface bite or ripping a jerkbait on Friday and Saturday. Sundays bite was tube bait pattern. Moderate to light wind all three days. Relatively calm back in the coves. Sunday surface temp 68.8 degrees. Saw one other boat bass fishing at the head of the Las Vegas Wash on Sunday afternoon.
Saturday 2:00 P.M launch at Boulder Basin was the worst I've seen ramp congestion all year. 2 large crafts tied up blocking exit and launch and someone who couldn't figure out how to load their boat. Park Service needs to address launch access situation I'm thinking. 4 ft swells Saturday evening around Saddle Island coming back in.
Striper fishing on Sunday looked to be mostly bait and one guide (Jim Goffs) was trolling around the Wash on Sunday afternoon with clients. Saw Baysport Sunday morning.
A couple of brief flurries of surface action around 5:00 P.M. at head of Vegas Wash.
Anyone patterning largemouth now?

Thanks for the report! Three days of fishing on Lake Mead, you animal, I wish I could fish that much!
We almost always fish a.m. because of the launching ramp congestion in the afternoons. Not many boats launching at 5 a.m. and we pull out around 11 a.m. before it gets too crazy. The lake seems less windy during the morning on average also. Four foot waves mean we will be wet when we arrive at the dock! My partner is great at handling the truck so it makes hauling out less of a hassle. When I go out alone it is much more difficult to lanch.
Sounds like you had a great time on the water.

Doing this in the dark with 4 ft swells I took some spray and was glad for the windbreaker. No water in the boat or bilge. Just trim the Skeeter 's bow up and run the Yamaha 115 at 2500 RPM through the bad stuff around Saddle Island. Many times I can trim bow down and slice through at 3000 or 3500 RPM on semi plane. Depends on the period of the swells. Believe me, I am not interested in pushing the limit.
Doing this run at night still makes me respectful of the hazards around that Saddle Island passage.
We got off work - construction - early, because our finsh material didn't arrive, so no choice about when to go - go at 3 PM or don't go. That is usually a good window for the Spaghetti Bowl passage going south on the 95.
Compare Boulder Basin launch to say Windsor Beach launch at Havasu. Havasu has maybe 20 slips for launch docking, painted launch lanes, approach control that works, designated wipe down area close to launch and plenty of paved parking. But annual launch pass at Havasu is about 100.

I know how it is... fish when you can! Right now I'm only able to fish one day a week, usually Sunday. I'd go more if I had the opportunity. One nice thing I enjoy is that I'm only a half hour from the lake with not much traffic to deal with.
Sounds like you know your boat really well. I agree with you about not pushing the limit. Get in, get there, fish, get back, get out safe & sound!
I can't wait until this weekend!

Now, what about the largemouth bass fishing?

I've never fished for largemouth bass, caught a couple while throwing lures in the back of coves, but never targeted them intentionally. I'm still trying to figure out these Lake Mead Stripers! I am going to start trolling soon, I've trolled for big stripers in San Francisco Bay and outside the Golden Gate Bridge with my brother-in-law and I would like to try it in Lake Mead. Maybe when the trout plants begins. Sorry I can't help you with largemouth information.
