Wiperslayer and his friend Shane were fishing the Bear on Sunday and caught this nice cutt. I don't have all the details but the fish did weigh 8.5 lbs.

Very, Very Nice! Looks pretty cold out there but worth the chill to catch a fish like that. Congrats to the one who landed it.

Man nice fish! How good are his scales? That fish looks to me to be bigger the 8.5 lbs. I would guess closer to 13-15 lbs. Were they trolling or jigging when the got it?

Hy hunter is it possible to fly fish for those bad boys?

He uses a digital scale that has been checked against an known weigh to verify how close they are. Most people over estimate the weigh of fish they catch but it can make for a better story when they don't weigh them, ha,ha. They caught the fish jigging.

Thanks, You're right about that over estimating. Thats half the fun of fishing and telling the story [cool], especially if your buddy stayed home [Wink]

It may have been the camera angle but the fish looks like it is around 30" and has a good fat belly on it. I have a brown I caught years ago that looks about the same size. It weighed 15 lbs on certified scales. I was using that as a SWAG[shocked]. Thanks for the info.

He said the fish was 28 inches

Nice Cutt. Looks like a native. Too bad you wasn't able to keep it. Looks like you was over the rockpile. I plan on going over on Thursday.

No adipose fin - hatchery fish. It also has a deformed gill plate , but I guess it didn't hamper it's growth.

Hey taximan, Do you remember this fish? It was done in 1984 when you live in Logan.

Sorry to hijack the link.

Back to Bear Lake Cutts. 28" is a dang nice cutt. 8.5 lbs aye? Does anyone know what the biggest cutt out of Bear Lake is and when it was caught?

Nice 'Brown' . That's a really nice Cutt, You don't see very many that size any more. Not like there were alot before. All ways nice to see a big fish!

Where was that brown caught?

I caught it at Porcupine the spring in 1984. It was 31" and weighed 15 lbs. I had you do the mount.

That's the largest I've had come in from Porky. Had a couple come in last year just a hair smaller. I remember your fish and story. Early in the spring, mud and snow,4wd Subaru, caught on a worm from shore.I'm I close? Sure was big fish!

Thats the one. The water was so high that year the old wooden bridge was not usable so we walked from there to where we were fishing. It's hard to believe that was 20 years ago!
