Made it to the meeting spot at 4:40 AM, Mike was there waiting and Alan showed up just shortly after. We piled my pontoon and gear into the boat and made our way to Willard.
We made it to Willard's north marina around 5:45 AM and saw that we were claerly unable to launch Mike's boat so we gathered our ideas and decided to head to Pineview.
We arrived to Pineview at approx 6:20 and the sun still hadn't come up. The lake was calm, the dreaded "W" wasn't anywhere to be found.
After I launched my pontoon I made my way towards the narrows dragging a fire tiger pattern Rapala. I hit the cove between the marina and the narrows and started tossing my lure around. Had a hit but it was small and didn't fight much, I boated it and it was a dink smallmouth. I continued down to the narrows and trolled the shoreline with no luck.
I went to the south side of the narrows and met up with Mike and Al in the boat and they told me they hadn't had any luck. They continued working the narrows towards cemetary point and as they were leaving me where I was I started tossing around a deep diving rapala where I had found some bleeps on my finder. After about 20 casts I hooked another smallmouth, only about 1/2 pound size, was the biggest and last fish to be caught for the day.
We all met up around noon and decided Pineview was ROUGH so we packed up our gear and made our way to Jordanelle for a short 2 hour trip.
We launched at Jordanelle around 2:00, started off with bad luck, I snagged my "lucky" lure so I was a bit bummed. We worked our way in the boat towards the Rockcliff side and we trolled the area with no luck. The sun started coming down so we made our way back to the marina to pack up and leave.
We met up with FlyFishingMoose, UncleRay, and Lundman as they were leaving aswell and saw their AWESOME catch. They had several great sized bows and 2 huge browns. I tried to snap a shot but after the flash the camera died so the picture never made it to the memory, the photo was lost. (Too bad too cause it was a good one!) I asked FlyFishingMoose where the salsa was and he whipped out a jar of some excellent stuff I took home and used on some trout I had left over in my fridge. Only burned threw about 1/4 of the jar but it was enough cause the next morning I was hurting.
But it was well worth it, THANKS again for the damn good salsa.
Was good meeting Lundman, and seeing some excellent fish that were caught by their party. Glad someone had more luck than we had.
I need to wipe this trip off the record books so if someone has anything going on the next couple weeks that don't mind a tooner tagging along for, feel free to holler my direction.
Small 11/21 Report: Fished with Tincanfsh in wee early morning and we both caught several fish ranging from 17-24 inches. Good fun minus the HUGE workout the wind gave us.
