I would have to say just past the waterfall, where the water kinda turns back up stream, that way he has the safety of the swift water and the current bring him food back up that away, but he is not in the swift water himself.

Nice picture. I would say right beneath the "waterfall". I fish a creek that has lowhead dams and the fish are always right beneath them eating the insects and little fish that are carried down stream. I would try a fly or a small jerkbait[cool]

[unsure][green][size 3]Hi there spinner - you didn't mention what type of fishing you were doing. Fly or spinner? Anyhow I would first fish the area that I circled in red. Right at the seam of fast water and calm.[/size][/green][green][size 3] [/size][/green]
[green][size 3]By the way you should reduce the size of your pictures to no more than 500 pixels wide.

Just before I took the photo I spooked a large trout from just left of the big rock on the right shore.
I have caught very nice trout on the left side.....there is bridge embutment there and is quite deep there......

also at the face of the spill...

And biggest one i ever caught there was 3/4s the way across the spillway right.....there is a deep spot and a STEP drop........a 2 feet to 5 feet step.....old bridge ruins allows a perfect spot for big old brown to lay in wait!

All answer were sweet.....

Have to use some big or heavy to get it down right away......must throw above the spillway make it look realistic....

flies way to go in this hole....plugs have no luck....don't get down right away....spinners might work but a big old beadhead bogger with green flash has caught numerous trout in this hole!

Please try to keep your pictures down to 400 by 500 pixels. If it is necessary to have a bigger picture, then it is ok to attach a link to your picture.[cool]

I do love fishing the streams of southeastern Minnesota. That is a lovely looking spot! I can't tell for sure but I would wait until just before dark and wade the shallow side up from downstream slow and easy. Probably use a 1/8 jig n 3" mister twister as always [Wink]

Oh that looks like a nice spot ,i would drift a nightcrawler or red worm on a number 4 gamagatzu hook no split shots needed, just the weight of the worm and the hook,i would cast right up to the part where the water fall first comes down and let it drift. You'll know when he has it,you will see your line stop in the middle of the current, hes chewing on it then if you think the trout is on, pull up super super slowly,if hes on you should be able to lift him up alil
with out him knowing, lil meaning like 5-7mm[Wink]
if he is..Set that hook and hang on.[Wink]I use this technique with my fly rod in the creeks in Alberta for Artic Grayling. It produces but you have to be so quiet as well take your time and drop the casts not splash them.
