Anglers who were fishing at the White Pine County lake over the weekend told NDOW that the fishing was somewhat slow, but the fish that were taken were around 19 to 20 inches. Fish are being caught in deep water near the dam and in the channel between the upper and lower lakes. Sparkle PowerBait, worms and marshmallows are catching the fish while the favorite fly has been the flashback hare’s ear nymph. [/indent]

Pete Gill from Nevada State Parks said that the reservoir is completely iced over but the ice is not yet thick enough for ice fishing. That, however, has not deterred anglers who are punching holes in the ice from the dock and catching stocked rainbow trout.[/indent]

The action continues to be very good for striped bass in the Boulder Basin while those pursuing largemouth bass are struggling to put fish into their creel, according to the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW).
Boaters have been enjoying very good success and many have told NDOW that they are catching limits of 20 stripers. The fish are deep and are being taken by trolling, jigging and drifting with anchovies. Most of the fishing activity continues to take place in the Las Vegas Wash area.
There have been reports of stripers up to 10 pounds breaking the lake’s surface following last week’s trout plant at North Saddle Cove. However, no anglers were seen pursuing the fish in that area.
Jacob Lescenski, 6, of Las Vegas caught a 4½-pound striper Saturday between Hemenway Harbor and Special Events Beach. He took the fish from shore with an anchovy.
Shore fishing has been good for stripers at Special Events in the morning hours. The beach is open to traffic from 6 a.m. to dusk.
NDOW said that shore anglers may wish to concentrate their efforts for stripers in the backs of coves where the trout are congregated. This should produce better success than fishing off the deep points. [left]A largemouth bass fishing tournament held over the weekend at Callville Bay attracted 18 anglers who combined for just 5 fish.[/left]
Trout fishing has been fair following the plants with the fish preferring spinners and spoons. The next plants will be held Friday (12/17/04) at Hemenway, Horsepower, Pumphouse and North Saddle coves. [/indent]

Fishing has generally been sporadic for striped and largemouth bass in the Cottonwood Cove area. There was poor fishing last week, but on Saturday (12/11/04) NDOW checked anglers with stripers that weighed 18.4, 15.8 and 11.7 pounds. By Sunday, the fishing had again turned sour.
NDOW will be stocking rainbow trout Friday (12/17/04) at Placer Cove, Cottonwood Cove and Willow Beach. [/indent]

Despite the recent warming trend with temperatures rising into the high 50s, a couple of anglers experienced good success for rainbow trout. Anglers ice fishing on Haymeadow and Adams-McGill reservoirs landed the stocked fish that averaged 11 inches.
Haymeadow and Adams–McGill Reservoirs have ice that is 4 - 5 inches thick and are considered safe for ice fishing. Cold Springs Reservoir is not considered safe for ice fishing. NDOW recommends that anglers exercise caution when ice fishing. [/indent]
