First of all, I want to thank several of your advice and help and answering many questions that I asked. So we headed up to the Berry Monday morning. We arrived much later than I wanted. We were on the lake by 10am. It started off a little slow, but some other people caught quite a few between 8:30 and 9:30. Then in slowed down. We only ended up fishing till about 2:30. It seemed to pick up again around 1:30. We ended up catching a few cutts and a really nice rainbow. The rainbow was caught on a pink and green ice fly. I saw others catch fish with minnows, tube jigs, and power bait. Most fish were caught just off the bottom. It was clear blue skies and nice to get out of the fog. The down side is that it was super windy and the ice was dang slippery. It was just like an ice skating rink. We saw two Ice Huts fly across the lake, as well as a few chairs when someone would stand up and the wind was blowing strong. We went out a couple hundred yards and had a good 8-10 inches of ice. You could see open water in the middle though. Anyway, we had a great time and can't wait to head up again.

[cool]Hey tuber, I'm glad that you guys had a good time up there. Kinda sucks about the W though. Hope that some of my tips/and or advice was helpful. When MikeCromaine, CBR and I went up, our success was kind of intermitant throughout the day. We didn't just do great in the early a.m. In fact, when CBR and Mike had their "monsters that got away" (we'll call them) on the line, it was actually about mid day, if I recall correctly. Let me know if I can be of any more help, and good luck on your next trip! My next two weekends are pretty much taken up, so it looks like it might be a little while til get up there again[pirate]. By then, the Perch holes around here will be doing great, so I might not be up there again for a few weeks.

Do you know what the road accessability is like to get to Renegade point and indian creek bays??? I always do very well over there and hope to hit that in the morning.

Geoff,

Your tips definitely helped out. Hopefully I can hook up with you guys soon. I guess its time to invest in a ice shack. Have a great one.

polokid,

I would love to help out any Ute fan. I was on the field when they beat BYU. What a great season. Anyway, I didn't get a chance to see what Renegade and Indian creek looked like. Most of the bays have pretty good ice. Its the main body of water that is still open.

Go Utes

[cool]Hey polokid,
long time, no post, eh? Welcome back. Anyway, to answer your question, I believe I read on the dwr site that the road to Renegade/Indian Creek (at least the road that goes past the Strawberry Marina) is in it's usual deep winter state which is a road closed sign with a big huge snow bank right behind it. If you have snow machines, you can get back there, if not, I think you are s.o.l. Good luck tomorrow!

[cool]Hey Jed, how was the fishin? Any big ones landed or involuntarily released?

Sure would like to see a pic of your bow you caught . Any details on it like how long was it ? I always look for bows from there , but not much success thru the ice . How deep of water was it hooked in if you know ? It was slippery sunday on the ice , but I was glad I didn't have to fight the dreaded W .

only one involentary release the rest were volentary, The fishing wasn't real fast, we had to move around a lot, but the size was great on everything we caught. I am not sure what the grand total was, but I think I ended up with 10 or 11 and slayerace ended up with around 14 or 15. most were in the slot around 21" or so,

Hellsangler,

I don't have a pic and I would guess it was around 18-20 inches. It was real pretty. We were in about 15ft of water. I usually don't have much success with bows up at the berry, but it was nice to get one this trip.

Jed,

Good to know I met my fist BFT'r at the berry. Sounds like you guys did a bit better than we did. We still had a great time. If I would have known you were a BFT member I would have sacraficed my body to catch your hut. Well, maybe not, it was going pretty quick. I also need to give you props for telling me to go smaller on the jigs because it was after that that we caught most of the fish, so thanks. Anyway good to meet ya and hopefully we will see you again
