I got out last night for about an hour, pulled up half dozen crappie and a gill...

Well I went back out to my hole today, a bit late, one of my buddies got to it before I did.
and wouldnt ya know he pulled up two bass, a 16 and a 20 inch. there goes my 20 inch LMB for the 16 species contest. I got him to hold up the bass for a pic, so I will be able to show them off.
the lake was like a big giant super slushy.
we had rain over night and it is 50 now and will be 57* so all day and sunny, so I guess I wont be going back out today. and from the looks of it I wont be going back out any time soon, and no freezing temps to be seen for a week to come.
Oh well at least I got out for a couple days.

I was sick for the past 5 days and now that I'm feeling better the ice is no good. Hunting season(deer) is over and there is no snow to rabbit hunting. So the next best thing to do was tie up flies. hopefully we will get a cold spill again and the ice will freeze back up. A couple of friends went out to my lucky spot and got 15 good size crappies and a nice pike that was 33 inches.

hopefuly they entered one of the local pike pots before they caught it. Thats a nice one, worthy of entering.
You remember Dave Pace? You have fished with him several times the last couple years, he was the guy fishing next to you last year when your kids were with you that one night. He passed around labor day. "Heart stopped" three years older than me. [indent]
there is going to be a memorial fish contest in his honor the first weekend of febuary. $10 entry fee, half going to the heart foundation 40% first place and %10 second place. I think it is going to go by weight but dont hold me to it. we will have better info as we get better ice and get closer to the date.[/indent]
