Does anyone know the condition of the gorge? Can you still launch at manilla? How much open water is there? Etc. etc etc. Thinking of taking a boat up there but haven't heard anything about the conditions. Thanks

The latest report that i have heard was as of this week end,the ice is now past buckboard, but the ramp at anvil still had open water.
some nice bows being taken thro the ice on the wyo side, didnt hear how the boaters were doing, unless we have a prolong cold spell,i dont think the gorge will complety frezze this year.

As of Friday the 31st, the ice was just a little past the confluence of the Blacks Fork with the Green River. The ice had actually receded slightly over the past week. I have not checked Buckboard yet, but the lake was definitely open just past the confluence. When it is reported that Buckboard is frozen, it is probably that the bay near the marina is frozen (that froze early last year). We need some cold days without the big W to advance the ice sheet southward. The ice at Lost Dog was about 6 inches thick, but was only 2 inches in some places (I had to wave a fourwheeler off, that almost went through a 2 inch thickness area). The fishing was slow over the weekend, but was excellent Thursday afternoon (for rainbows).

I fished the Blacks Fork arm late Saturday before dark and all day Sunday for bows. Ice was 8" - 10". The bite could be fast at times but for the most part a waiting game. The fish seemed to be on the move a lot.
The only place we seen ice at Buckboard was in the bay around the boat docks.

Well if the ice isnt any farther south then buckboard bay, that's mean that there is still open water at holem's crossing then.i just might have to unwinterize the boat and take it out .

Yeah go for it JT. As I say, the only place there was ice at Buckboard was right at the docks back in Buckboard wash. If I mentioned how warm it was while the sun was shining up there last weekend folks probably wouldnt believe me.. Boy that weather was a nice change!

All boat ramp's are open . I put in at anvil the water is up at least 5ft the sign at the end of the road say's it is still closed but it is very useable.I searched high and low and mac's were very hard to find but if you could find them there were a lot of pup's from 5-15lb to be caught but not to meany good fish we caught 9 over 20lb in 3 days. one around 30 but not much to speak of the jigging is very slow as the trollers again seem to be catching more fish.It allmost seem's like the big boy's are in some real shallow water 30-50ft and are not to interested in eating thay must be full of koke's there are ton's of koke's showing them self's on the scope and the fish we are catching are fat and full. oh the koke's are running about 20-30ft in depth for you koke boy's. best o luck ....
