[Sad]went to echo down by the dam today the ice is hard to get on and is only about a inch to two inches thick for the first 2 to 20 feet from the shore. we only found two places to get onto the ice for a while. the ice is about 5 inches thick once you get on it. the fishing was slow 2 of us only caught 3 perch (2-3" 1-5") those are the smallest perch that i have ever caught out of there, the bite was very light. i caught one 12" rainbow. becareful around the edges if you go

thanks trfishin

That's not the most encouraging report. I'm beginning to wonder if we'll get any good perch fishin this year. Hopefully Rockport will lock up with safe ice and produce those tasty little morsels.

[cool]Man, that really sucks!! Where the heck are all of the nice Perch this year? Rockport can't freeze up fast enough for me! I don't want to drive 3 or 4 hours to fish lake, and Jordy has mostly small fries, so it's a good thing colder weather is in the forcast for this weekend and beyond! I don't understand Echo. There's no Walleye to eat them in there, is there? I've heard there's big browns and Cats in there though. I guess this drought must have really killed off some of them. Everyone has seen how low that lake is. Each year for the past 6 years it got lower and lower, and now maybe the drought has just caught up with the huge Perch population that was once there. Who knows?[crazy]

It seems the perch fishing is slow everywhere so far this ice season. Hopefully rockport won't let us down. Any ice on jordanelle yet?

[cool]Yeah, there's safe ice in the Rock Cliff side, but that's the only place. There's a lot of slush on top of it right now, though.

[cool]Didn't fish it, but I'm thinking about it real soon. I heard a report from a friend who said he drove up to it and saw holes on the ice, etc. I don't know how good it is right now. I'd imagine the Brown's and 'bows are biting well, but that bay is pretty shallow right now thanks to 6 years of drought, and so I'd imagine the Perch are out deeper to find warmer water at this time. Could be wrong though, the little perchies might be biting.

That's funny, I don't remember reading any reports from Echo in October about nice Perch[Wink]. I'm sure you'll post after your next trip, right?

All kidding aside, there does seem to be something wrong with Echo this winter. Let's all hope that Rockport freezes soon. Friday morning it's supposed to get down to 19 in the valley, and probably colder up there. Let's hope these cold temps really set in good up there next week.

It's been 5 degrees or less the last three days at Jordanelle when I get to work at 7:00 am, so it's been plenty cold up that way lately, but still no ice.
