[/size]Rockport Reservoir finally has a layer of ice on it. There is still some open water but that should freeze soon. The ice should be 4-5 inches thick by this next weekend with the forecasted cold temperatures. Once we freeze the fishing should be HOT especially for the perch. Just in time for the Perch Party!!! We will add another post when the ice thickens. Have a great day!

Don't know about you guys, but I think I'll be getting there before the 22nd when the fishing is still SMOKING HOT!!

That's great news, of course I'll be out of town next weekend for the initial onslot, but I only work 15 min away from rockport and can already see the need to leave early 1,2, or 5 days next week. Here perchie, perchie, perchie!

[Smile] Great news O4T. I am a little skeptical about this report from Dougy's site due to the warm temps and wind that we had over the weekend. I hope it is true. Current temp at Coalville is 30.

[cool]Well, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that if it's cold enough to snow, it's cold enough to freeze water! There's about a foot of snow on the Ground in Colville from what I've heard, and go and watch the news tonight to see the forcast, or you can go to ksl.com, etc. Weather channel usually isn't all that accurate. All of the forcasts call for 4-6 inches in Salt Lake tomorrow/Wed a.m., and COLD after that. It will be getting down to 15 or so over the next 5 days in the valley, so it should be close to 0 up there. Should finish off a safe ice cap up at Rockport quite nicely. I'm gonna fish it next Monday (maybe even Saturday, drilling holes every 20 yards or so to check for thickness).

Monday morning I got to work above jordanelle to find 1 foot of new snow, 3 feet of drifted snow, 40 degree temps, and a torrential down pour of a rain storm; also the ice cap that had started on jordanelle last week had been torn off by the 40 mph winds we had up there over the weekend. I really don't think anyone will be icing perch at rockport this weekend.

[Sad] I just got off the phone with Rockport State Park. The person I spoke with said the ice that was there was blown off by the warm weekend and rain they had up there. Hopefully with the forcasted cold temps it may be ready by the middle of next week.
