Hi all,
This weekend, I'm going to ONE PLACE and ONE PLACE only. (Please read my ICE FISHING = GOOD WORKOUT post...) Kindof getting bored of the little cuts at Currant Creek, and (believe it or not) the action isn't fast enough at Strawberry, and my wife wants me to bring home a few this weekend or I can't go. Plus I'm taking a different buddy and his son (14 year old) for the first time.
So I'm thinking about Huntington and the Tiger Troutski's. Fished there a lot this fall with good luck.
Hows the access? Hows the fishing?
Anybody else have any suggestions south of SLC (Dont' want to go north) for a spot other than CC or the Berry?
Also thinking about perhaps (longshot) Northern Pike fishing in Redmond..January is supposed to be the best month. Anybody know if its boatable/ or iceable? Recent reports? Would rather take my boat.
And maybe I'll just take my boat to Jordanelle if the wind won't be blowing. Its supposed to be clear this weekend.

Any responses would be appreciated!

first let me say if your going to huntington be ready for deep and i mean realy deep snow!! we have got more than 5 feet of new snow in the last 3 day up on the hill behind my house.. so you will be up to your eyeballs in snow.. and the snow up there is power not pack snow like in the valley.. the tigers there are easy to get on most days through the ice.. a worm on most any 1/4 oz jig will put them on the ice for you.. fish 2 to 4 feet under the ice and watch your finder and see if they are come through high or close to the bottom and go from there..

the pike as a eating fish is not very good.. and the ones in redmond are small at best!! and the oddes of catching enough of them to feed more that one or two people is slim at best.. they are however very fun to catch and this is the best time to go after them if you want to do some fishing for them.. as for a boat you can put a boat on redmond with no problms the lake has never frozzen over in all the time i have fished it.. and i've fished it in alot colder years than this year.. the east side will freez up in some of the colder years but the west side were the hot springs run in it dose not freez.. i have found that fishing from the bank is better there.. the lake is very shallow and seams that boats spook the fish some.. try anchoves about 3 to 4 feet under a big red and white bobber.. you can stop in gunnson at the grocery store they have a freezer to your right as you walk into the store and get anchoves or shinners for bait.. make sure you have cable leders or there will be no chance of any pike on bait.. or a red and white spoon, silver spoon and big spinners work good at times as well.. there is some large mouth bass in there as well so spinner baits and jigs work good for both fish..

dude on fish?
